Music Biography
Color Purple Star Jeannette Bayardelle's Sophmore CD Transferable has been described as a breath of fresh air. The lyrical content is about searching, finding, relationship and revelation. . She wrote all the songs and produced all the music along with Craig Crawford and Daniel Weatherspoon. There are many surprises on the CD including a duet with Michelle Williams of Destinys Child. "I am so happy with this project. Most of the songs were written while I was in The Color Purple on Broadway and the National Tour".
Jeannette received an NAACP Theater Award in 2008 for best female lead in a musical for the role of Celie. She received rave reviews throughout the country for her portrayal of Celie. Her extraordinary performances on stage led her to work on Disney's Princess and The Frog and Little Mermaid III (Ariels Beginning). Other credits include: Rent, Big River, Sister Act, Best of Both Worlds, Elergies, and Zinzi.
In December of 2008, Jeannette was scheduled to open The Color Purple in Portland, Oregon but she never made it to stage. On the flight from New York to Portland, Jeannette had a severe pulmonary embolism that almost took her life. She was hospitalized for 7 days and had to remain in Portland for a month before she could get on a plane to go home. "That entire experience was rough". The song "Suddenly" from her new CD Transferable, was birthed out of that experience. "During my recovery, I felt like I didnt want to live any more, then suddenly, my perspective on living changed. I became excited about life again".
Many of the songs on this CD are inspiring. Its not just music, its medicine that provides the type of healing that is Transferable.
